Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

First off, I freakin hate the title, it's just confusing. I mean sure, a game can have a title that doesn't need to make sense but when you put something that does make sense in their it is just messed up. But enough of my complaints (for now), this is gonna be about the game itself. Anyways, the game play.....now if your not familiar with strategic-tactical RPG's then it's in your best interest to start on something easier than this first because this game is really for the hardcore Tactics fans. Any other player will find this most likely to be a pain. Also, this isn't like the fast-paced strategy action of Nippon Ichi, this is "a mule dragging its rear with hundreds of pounds on its back" slow. The way they try countering this is by speeding up the enemies (and some of your allies) motions really fast and moving the screen around; this was disorienting on the PSP (note: keep face at least 5 inches away from screen @.@)

Controls, I found this to be a big time pain in the rear, the controls themselves were tight and fine but the direction kept having me make mistakes, it was agonizing to just move one person to their spot accurately. Another thing, and I found this to be a real downer; you can only control the main hero unit and only the units you place on the field. This was aggravating because I found myself confusing the enemy with my other allies.

Graphics and art design, I really liked the art design of the characters but dreaded the graphics. Don't get me wrong, the actual design of characters is "ok" but my main complaint was that after playing awhile and the screen is moving really fast, it is almost impossible to tell certain units apart (like the archer). Hell, half the time I was attacking my own people! How hard is it to make one side a glowing blue and another a dark red?! It's not like there has been legitimate complaints over that system.

All in all, do not get this for an average player, get it for a Final Fantasy fan or exen someone who like strategy and complexity in their games.

6.2 out of 10

(P.S.: Your friend in this game is a real ignorant jerk, mission 3-you'll know what I mean)
