Character Profile: Timothy Warden (Carrier)

It was quiet when Tim awoke from the back seat of the cab. His head ached as he felt for any major problems with his body. Tim only felt a constant thumping pain in his skull and a sore burn across his torso; looking up, Tim saw, through the cab's shattered window, a city that had been burned and crushed. Some of the buildings that crumbled looked archaic in the brightly lit streets. He positioned himself and kicked his crumpled door hard, over and over; after the door hinges gave way Tim staggered out of the car and began to cough. His stomach burned and pumped the acids up and out onto the pavement. The bile was tainted heavily with blood; Tim worried about the potential damage that the crash had caused to himself so he made his way to the nearest medical facility.

The streets were littered with bodies filled with holes, shells that had been fired no less than a day ago, and several other bodies that were torn apart. Some even seemed to have been eaten by large creatures. Tim, holding his head with his fingers gripping through his hair, started to freak out. He screamed from the sheer horror of the sight; people weren't just killed, they looked to have been murdered in a fiend-like manner. Immediately, Tim heard a distant roar followed by a sudden thudding sound. Soon, Timothy felt minor tremors shake the ground around him, cars shook and sirens sprung. The first though that Tim had was to hide; he ran beside a vehicle and knelt down.

With a massive climax, a nearby brick wall exploded with tremendous force, bringing the tremors to a sudden end. Tim, shaking with fear, glanced over the car's hood and saw a demonic sight that should never exist. He saw a creature, fifteen feet high and on six stumpy legs, with brittle grey hair that revealed twisted flesh and some bleeding patches of which the skin tore wide open from the sheer girth of the creature. A thick, flat tail with spikes swung side to side with an aggressive force and the horns split open the what seemed to be the nostrils of a snout; they were jagged with multiple thorns splitting off the center main horn. Tim grew curious and took another step to the side, revealing large yellow eyes with red pupils; it didn't seem to have any eye lids and the skin surrounding it looked chafed and irritated as it peeled.

Suddenly, the creature saw Tim, it made a mad dash straight towards him. Tim started to run and couldn't think, the wind felt like blades cutting at his face. He only wanted to get away, go home and go back to the way life used to be. Tim slipped as his foot hit some flesh that was still fresh and bloody, he fell underneath a truck and landed on his back. Tim spun on to his stomach and looked back at the feet of the rhino-like demonic monster. It had stopped, observing the truck like a small child and then hooked it's horns underneath and ripped upward with a violent aggression. Tim was flung backwards by the back draft of the show of force; he felt his leg snap violently as he landed on the pavement. Realizing that his legs were worthless now, Tim got on his back and tried to support himself with his hands; his arms strained under carrying his weight and gave way. Tim, laying on the pavement, was helpless as the monster charged towards him.

In a last act of fear and anger, Tim held his hands out in front of himself and screamed; suddenly, the thumping of the creatures steps had stopped. Tim looked back at the monster, he saw that his hands had transformed into grotesque lances with bone-like spikes piercing through his over-stretched skin and muscles. Each lance pierced the skull of the monster and dozens of large bone spikes skewered the creature. Tim pulled his hands back to him with great disturbance to his mental state; as his arms returned to normal the monster's corpse slowly sucked the spikes back into the carcass. Tim gripped the car tightly as he got back on his feet. Tim felt as though reality had been broken but before he could continue his thought Tim felt his leg shift violently. His bone snapped violently back into his leg and the flesh, once torn, started to sear with pain as the skin sealed up the wound.

Tim realized that he no longer lived a normal life, he realized that something has infected him, turning him into an abomination. Before he continued on that thought Tim just stopped thinking and continued to pursue the nearest medicinal facility. " I'll be fine...I....I just need to get to a hospital or something! They'll help me! They'll make me better, I know it!", Timothy thought as he ran down each block, passing each street within seconds. Before he knew it, Tim ran over twelve miles in only two minutes; he felt the wind on his face, not cutting him but practically embracing him, pushing him. As Tim sprinted he saw a figure down one of the streets; he stopped and closed his distance to investigate. Tim saw a man, crawling out of an overturned car; the man was obviously wounded as blood spewed from his mouth.

Tim approached and spoke with a desperate plea, "Hey! Are you ok sir?!" The man looked up at Tim and screamed, "No! Get away from me you freak! GET AWAY!" the man got up and ran. Before he could reach five paces Tim, with an outstretched arm, exclaimed, "STOP!", the man was halted and soon began to levitate towards Tim. The man, screaming to the top of his lungs, panicked and flailed violently. Tim let go of him with a sudden fright, not realizing the extent of his condition. The man landed, snapping his wrist and ripping through the skin and skewering a vein. The man started to roll around in pain as the blood poured from his wrist; suddenly, he stopped and stood up, turning to face Timothy. His face showed great anguish as he held his chest, the man hollered and screamed. The man fell to his knees as his skin started to sink into his gut as his rib-cage split apart. The ribs sliced through the skin, revealing a mouth with many fangs, devouring the mans skin.

Tim looked on in horror but felt a sudden rage inside himself, he felt that this abomination was just too disgusting to have been made by any god. Rage consumed Tim as the mouth devoured the rest of the mans skin; the muscle structure of the man started to shift into a different shape. Before the fiend could finish its change Tim held both hand outs and screamed, " Go back to hell!", the creature stopped moving freely and started to contract on all sides. The creatures organs started to implode and explode in a random sequence, creating an explosion of blood and chunks that covered the entire mid-section of the street. Tim closed his eyes tight, he dare not look at the horror that could break his sanity; Tim turned to his right and ran fast.

As Tim ran he felt a series of painful strikes that bombarded his body. He opened his eyes and realized that he was running through walls; one wall he ran into felt very thick and painful but as he pushed through Tim felt his body hit nothing but air as he rolled across the state park. He looked around and saw the hospital , there were lights beaming from the rooftop and helicopters lifting people out of the city. Tim ran and met the door to the titanic hospital, it was a skyscraper in his regard. Tim felt the need to get up to the top faster than the main root, so he tried holding onto the wall and climbing up. He slid down the side and scraped his face on the bricks; out of frustration, Tim hit the wall, he looked up and saw that his lance-like appendage had pierced the wall, firmly locking him in place. Tim then started to ram his feet in, creating spikes all over the bottom of his feet. He sprinted up the side of the tower as fast as he could, creating seismic thuds that shook the entire building.

As Tim reached the top of the building he figured it would be best just to look normal, so he climbed the last foot regularly and planted his feet on the roof. Seeing the soldiers line up individuals for the transport Tim noticed that, off towards another corner of the building, they were throwing people off the edge. He heard something about them being contaminated and decided it would be best to sneak aboard with the so-called "clean" shipment. Slowly and carefully, Timothy used the shadows to join the crowd of others that were bunched together tightly. Seeing that the flight was soon to fill, Tim started a fight between a few "clean" individuals by shoving them into each other. As the brawl ensued Tim, turning his face away from the officers, crept onto the transport.

Tim looked out his window and saw dozens of miles of just destruction and infection. Blood tainted the streets everywhere he looked and bodies were either stacked in piles and burned or they were scattered. Some of which limped and sprawled the streets aimlessly, devouring over corpses or being smashed by greater monsters. Tim heard the pilots radio turn on, "Are the test subjects aboard? Are the "clean" on their way to the labs?" the pilot said with a murderously cold tone, "They are on the way, prep Operation Janitor in twelve hours." The radio sputtered out with static, "Were you able to obtain Project Hell?" the pilot said with great anxiety, "No sir, Carrier was spotted at the beginning of the incident but out team got K.I.A.'d during the level two incursion. Sir, I am sorry sir."

Tim had enough as he listened to the conversation, he looked outside the window and waited till they could cross the quarantine barrier. Tim desperately tried to avoid the eyes of the others but the more he looked outside the more others started to look at him. A guard took the crowds worries into consideration and walked up to Tim, "Sir, are you alright? Wait.....I don't recall you ever being at the-" Tim replied with aggression, "Back off! I just want to leave this hell-hole in one piece ok!? Go back to walking up and down your little walk-way already!" The soldier backs off and walks slowly towards the pilot, murmuring words into his ear like a small child telling a secret. Tim worries about the possible repercussions but notices that they are almost past the barrier now. After glancing at the wall Tim realizes that his eyes were glowing a bright teal color, immediately realizing the potential of his mistake. Tim feels the entire helicopter shift direction, they were now heading away from the barrier; the people aboard started to panic and grew hostile with each second. The guard spoke loud, "Shut up! We have a contamination aboard the helicopter! We need to go back!"

Tim stands and before the guard can even speak Tim releases hundreds of tendrils through the guards and all throughout the cockpit. The people scream from the blood and try to stand but the helicopter spins out of control as the entire front becomes a gaping  hole. The aircraft, spewing flame and oil, passes just outside the barrier into a forest. The wreckage is engulfed in flame and explodes, sending shrapnel and people flying. Tim, split in half, sees his legs walk back to him; seeing his own pieces move on their own finally shatters Timothy's perception of the real world and has engulfed his mind in one cause. To return to his old reality he must find a cure that will restore him to normal, people are just blood and organs with mouths. Tim reassembles himself and then runs off into the darkness, overhead he hears the speakers on the hot-air balloons shout, "The Carrier is out, I REPEAT! The Carrier is out!"
