Marvel vs Capcom Fate of Two Worlds, This is it, the most hardcore, fast-paced fighting game that we have all been waiting for! I have been playing this game for hours already and I can tell you right now that it is worth the wait. The combat is the first thing that must be recognized! It holds the fast, relentless combos of the past but at a slightly slower rate. Granted it is slower but this exchange is worth it since the decrease in speed is substitute by an increase in strategy. Personally, I bought MvC2 and still love it for its classic arcade vibe and action but MvC3 replaces its place by a ton!
Each and every single character plays differently, no single character is ever better than another overall though. For example, Hulk is by far one of the best characters for bouncing combos and heavy attacks but holds more of an opening to being countered or blocked. On the other hand, Wesker, the coolest RE villain to ever exist, is extremely fast, powerful, and holds extensive combos. His downside is that he plays just as fast as MvC2 and requires some major timing and skill to handle. Granted I loved putting them together with either Ryu or (spoiler) Akuma since these two hold massive power and extreme combos n exchange for speed and complexity.
I know I've said many good things but I have to mention somethings I found disappointing otherwise I wouldn't be doing a fair review. First off, I found the stages to be beautiful and music for them great but it felt as though there was a lack of stages. Secondly, the mission mode, don't get me wrong but I found it majorly lacking for a so-called "mission" mode. I was at least hoping for some sort of entertaining thing that was reminiscent of the old side-scroller beat 'em up games, like Streets of Rage. Then there is the character roaster, what everyone was wanting to know. Not even I know of the exact character list is but I'm guessing that most of the more favorables aren't on the roaster. I really wanted to see Strider Hiryu, Hayato, Jin Saotome; these three characters (to me anyways) embodied the MvC spirit. Not to mention, I would have loved to see these three revamped with new moves, graphics, and awesomeness!
Overall, MvC3 has the "IT" factor for any versus gamer, any Marvel or Capcom fan will require this game in order to experience a true mash-up on this generations consoles.
9.9/10
P.S.: I almost never give games a 10, this is because I make it my job to inform people on the downside of every single game I review; I also find the 10 point system works far better than any 5/5 system. Still love ya Xplay! :Z
