Diamon Jaq, a human with little to do on his off time and an all-time job. His real name is Otis Burlings and he decided to become a super hero for the U.S.; he found that being a super hero and being on the payroll sucks, so he decided to register to become a policing super hero. Granted Jaq has never been the brightest or the smartest but when it comes down to it he will save and even inspire the people with his care. Jaq was born with his abilities, when his family discovered he had them at the age of 3 they dumped him into an orphanage in Crescent City. It was there that he met a girl named Mariana Forster, she lost her family to a gang shooting on 34th Street, right as they walked out of their own home. The two of them became best friends over the years and when the time came to leave they made a promise, to make the city a better place for the children of tomorrow, so that there would be no more gang wars, senseless shootings, and robberies.
Jaq figured that if he was going to help save the city then he needed to register because living on his own was a really crummy way to get through life. When he registered at the town hall he was also required to take training courses in the hero code, hero conduct, and hero rules and restrictions. He was annoyed at first but as time passed he took a liking to the codes and rules, and he loved the idea government pay for him to patrol the city for crime and come home to a great apartment. As he left the academy for super human police he saw Mariana enter; his first thought was the joy of patrolling the city with his best friend. He made his way to his government funded apartment and found it...amazing.
Jaqs first patrols were major successes that earned him the nickname "Mr. Spotlight"; he got the name from always busting the biggest criminal in the city. Although, the people found his powers unnerving to say the least. He had the innate ability to absorb fragments of internal power given off by life; he could manifest this power, with his own, into outer energies that allowed him to fly, travel through space, and even enhanced invulnerability. People often wonder if his power to draw strength from others could be pushed to life-draining levels, this rumor has caused the people to keep their distances, even though they like him. Although Jaq doesn't know his total potential that doesn't stop him from constantly pushing himself, in training and on his enemies.
As the days passed Jaq grew tired of simply fighting thugs and mobs but one day he met up with Mariana, newly dubbed, Silver Mist. They conversed and enjoyed a good get-together, they planned out patrol routes and planned to meet at different times in the day. This way they could give each other back-up throughout patrols if something bad were to happen. Jaq found happiness in his old-time friend and felt joy in his job once more.
One day on patrol, Diamon Jaq was hovering through the streets, he always liked to hover instead of walking in his normal attire. Suddenly, he saw the sky split as a flaming figure crashed into the city at a distance; the power of the impact created a shock wave that threw cars over buildings. Jaq was tossed into a nearby bus, stunned, he got back to his feet and flew straight for the impact; the thought going through his head was just one, "Is Mariana hurt?". As he arrived at the scene Jaq saw an alien, humanoid-class, holding Mariana in its grip; with no caution Jaq charged forward, roaring in the wind. He saw Mariana escape and quickly retreat right before impact; his arms felt like they just hit something harder than he could possibly think of.
As Jaq recovered from the hasty impact he saw the creature emerge from the debris; the alien looked exhausted and drained, this made Jaq glad that this creature wasn't impossible to hurt. So he proceeded to launch an energy barrage at the creatures location, debris flew everywhere. Jaq strained to see what was in the dust, only to find a the alien fly straight into him; he parted from the alien for some brawling distance but every punch Jaq threw the alien countered with quick-small, tight punches and followed up his combo with three forward lunging strikes. Each lunging strike felt like a train hit him at break-neck speeds; the alien finished his earth-shaking strikes with a round-house kick that spun on an elevated axis. This sent Jaq straight to the ground with a cringing thud.
As Jaq looked long into the sky he saw the alien, holding its side, fly away from the carnage of the city. Jaq got up only to find that his ribcage had been cracked in some areas and shattered in others. The adrenaline wore off and he slipped into unconsciousness, only hearing the sound of sirens in the distance close in on his position. The next day Jaq awoke, he was in a hospital bed with many bandages around his chest; it occurred to him what caused this. The alien...the alien had destroyed half of Crescent City; Jaq immediately got out of the bed and flew to Marianas house where he could talk to her about what happened and devise a plan on how to capture the creature.
Diamon Jaqs abilities include: Innate ability to draw energy from nearby sources of life, Energy projection and manipulation, Flight, low-high invulnerability (depending on the amount of life energy in the area), Enhanced healing (depends on amount of life in the area)
